Precise Spatial Sensing Using a Grid
Based on a high-precision 0.5×0.5m grid, the AQARA FP400 sensor supports detailed zone-based automation and enables independent sensing of individual areas, such as the sofa or dining area.

- The latest mmWave radar uses a 60GHz frequency and a powerful 4T4R MIMO antenna array with more than five times the point cloud data density of the previous generation, enabling more accurate tracking, better individual target resolution, and more detailed spatial sensing
AI Recognition to Reduce False Detections
The motion sensor distinguishes human movement from other sources, such as pets or robot vacuum cleaners. Over time, it adapts to the surrounding space and helps reduce the number of false triggers, contributing to more accurate and stable sensing.

The device uses mmWave radar, which can detect presence and motion without capturing visual content. This makes it a suitable solution for monitoring presence in the home where you do not want to use a camera.
Zigbee and Matter over Thread for Flexible Connectivity
With support for Zigbee and Matter over Thread, the sensor offers flexible connectivity via Aqara Home and with other major smart home ecosystems. With a compatible Aqara hub, you can unlock its full potential in the Aqara Home app – area-wide presence detection, up to eight custom zones, multi-target tracking, AI person recognition, and local automations.¹ ⁴
Connecting to Matter Ecosystems Without an Aqara Hub
After connecting the AQARA Spatial Multi-Sensor FP400 Kit, you can use the Matter pairing code generated in Aqara Home to share supported FP400 functions with compatible Matter ecosystems.² In combination with a compatible third-party Thread Border Router,³ the sensor can be set up in Aqara Home even without an Aqara Hub. You will have access to custom zone settings, detection sensitivity, and absence confirmation time. A full-area occupancy sensor and up to eight custom zone occupancy sensors can also be used with compatible Matter ecosystems.
Flexible installation and wide field of view of the AQARA Spatial Multi-Sensor FP400 Kit
The sensor has a 120° field of view and flexible options for side, corner, and ceiling mounting. This allows the FP400 to adapt to various room types and layouts, enabling wider coverage with a single device. Proper installation helps to reduce blind spots and ensure more consistent and reliable sensing in different spaces.
- Side mounting – detection range up to 10×8m
- Corner mounting – detection range up to 7×7m
- Ceiling mounting – recommended installation height 3–4m; at a height of 3m, coverage is up to 5×6m for motion and 4×5m for presence directly below the sensor
Customise sensing for your specific room
Users have the option to fine-tune the sensing for different rooms. With adjustable sensitivity, absence confirmation, and AI-powered zone settings, automations can operate more accurately, naturally, and reliably in daily use.
- Presence detection sensitivity – offers up to 3 levels of sensitivity
- Absence confirmation time – allows you to set the time after which the space is considered empty, reducing false triggers
- AI-powered zone setting – helps define room boundaries and identify common sources of interference for subsequent confirmation or manual zone adjustment

- Ambient light sensing – detects changes in room brightness and supports automations that respond to lighting levels
Smart automation
When combined with the Hub M3, the sensor can automatically trigger preset automations. Below are examples of smart automations.
- Relax mode in the sofa zone – if someone stays on the sofa for 20 seconds between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., the ambient lighting will turn on and the air conditioning will switch to comfort mode
- Room occupancy limit alert – if there are more than 4 people in the room, the property manager or host will receive a notification
