Black Swan

Priscilla, the young daughter of the Governor of Antigua, returns to England after her father's death. However, after setting sail from Jamaica, her ship is attacked by one of the last pirates, the commander of the Black Swan. Not only her friend, Major Sands, but also a mysterious stranger are captured along with her. The captain of the Black Swan falls under the spell of the beautiful Priscilla and decides to have her—even against her will. However, the stranger is a constant, annoying obstacle, and the captain can't simply kill him because he has cleverly earned the respect of his crew.

The story unfolds on a Caribbean islet where the pirates are repairing the Black Swan, set against an atmosphere of tropical romance and ever-present danger.

This adventure novel is set in the second half of the 17th century, a time when the former privateer Henry Morgan was the Governor of Jamaica. In 1942, Hollywood made a film based on this novel, starring Tyrone Power and Maureen O'Hara.
