IPX1 is a rating that indicates the water resistance of electronic devices such as headphones, speakers or MP3 players. The "IP" designation stands for "Ingress Protection", which translates to "ingress protection". The "X" in the code means that the device has not been tested for resistance to ingress of solid particles, such as dust. The number "1" then specifies the lowest level of protection against water. Specifically, it guarantees that the device is protected against vertically dripping water, equivalent to, for example, light rain for 10 minutes. Thus, a device with this certification can handle sweat, but is not waterproof and must not be immersed in water or exposed to a strong stream of water.
