EATON UPS 9PX 6000i RT2U Netpack Li-Ion

The Eaton 9PX 6000i RT2U Li-Ion Netpack is an on-line double-conversion UPS with a lithium-ion battery, which can be mounted in a 3U rack or operated as a tower. It provides a true power output of 5400W at an apparent power of 6000VA. The design, with its 0.9 power factor, delivers more real power to protect a larger number of server and network components. The backup time at full load is 3 minutes, and 15.5 minutes at half load. Its high efficiency of up to 98% in eco-mode actively contributes to reducing operating costs for energy and data centre cooling.

Topology and performance

The power supply uses an on-line double-conversion topology that continuously monitors the power status and isolates the output from all input network anomalies. The efficiency in on-line mode is 94% and rises to 98% in eco-mode, reducing energy and cooling costs. The device constantly regulates the output voltage and frequency within tight tolerances and supplies a pure sine wave for sensitive electronics. It handles an input frequency across a wide range of 40–70Hz.

Battery and protection

The power supply contains 15 lithium-ion batteries with a 6Ah capacity, which offer a longer lifespan and lower maintenance requirements compared to lead-acid batteries. Both the internal batteries and external battery modules (EBM) are hot-swappable. Deep discharge protection extends the battery life, as does the ABM technology with temperature-compensated charging. The cold start function starts the UPS from the battery without mains power.

Management and connectivity

Management is handled via communication interfaces, including a USB port, an RS232 serial port, and a set of dry contacts. Eaton Intelligent Power Protector software automatically and safely shuts down connected devices during a prolonged power outage. Management also includes measuring power consumption at the level of the entire UPS. Input power is provided by a hardwired connection. For powering connected devices, it offers eight IEC C13 sockets and two IEC C19 sockets. All output sockets provide full backup and protection.
