Wi-Fi streaming and wireless playback
The Harman Kardon Citation 200 supports wireless music streaming via both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Wi-Fi lets you play high-resolution music and use services like Chromecast built-in or Apple AirPlay. The speaker gives you access to over 300 music streaming services, internet radio stations, and podcasts. Bluetooth 4.2 provides a direct connection to your smartphone or tablet for mobile use outside your home network. The device supports 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac standard wireless networks in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
Construction, battery and mobile use
The Citation 200 uses an integrated 4800mAh lithium-ion polymer battery. A single charge provides up to 8 hours of music playback, depending on the volume and content. Charging is done via the included charging base or a USB-C connector with a 5V/2A power supply. Its IPX4-certified construction protects the device against splashing water when used in the kitchen, on the patio, or in the garden. The Kvadrat fabric cover has a dirt-repellent and flame-retardant treatment that also makes the surface easier to maintain.
Multi-room, voice control and stereo mode
The Harman Kardon Citation 200 can be integrated into a multi-room system of Citation speakers and controlled via the Google Home app for iOS and Android. The speaker supports voice control via Google Assistant using the command “Hey Google.” The stereo pairing function lets you connect two Citation 200 speakers in the same room to create a wireless stereo system. The microphones can be physically switched off, and their status is indicated by multi-coloured LED indicators. The device's software supports automatic updates for features and services via an internet connection.
System type
An active speaker is one that has a built-in amplifier, so all you need to do to listen is connect it to a sound source, either wired or wirelessly.Passive speakers are more often referred to as speaker systems. They are intended more for high-quality, loud, and dynamic listening in the comfort of your home and are not suitable for frequent transport. The main advantage of passive speakers is the ability to connect various sources through a separate amplifier.
Number of channels
The number of channels in speaker systems and home cinemas indicates the number of independent audio signals (speakers) and subwoofers, most often in an X.Y format (e.g., 2.0, 5.1). It specifies how many audio tracks are reproduced simultaneously, which determines the spatial experience and bass depth of the system, from basic stereo sound (2.0) to surround sound (5.1 and higher).Specifications
