Key features of the LaCie Mobile Drive Secure 4TB (2022) external drive
- Uses Seagate Secure™ hardware encryption technology
- Connects via a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface with a USB-C connector
- Includes LaCie Toolkit software for easy backup management
- Comes with a three-year Rescue Data Recovery Services plan
- Compatible with PC, Mac, iPad and iPhone devices
Hardware encryption
Integrated Seagate Secure™ technology protects your sensitive files. Unlike software solutions, it doesn't affect your computer's performance, as the encryption processes run directly on the drive's hardware. The drive uses AES-256 standard hardware encryption, which reliably protects your content from unauthorised access. To unlock your data, you must enter a password, without which the files are unreadable, even if the device is physically stolen.
Design and connectivity
The drive's appearance was conceived by designer Neil Poulton, who combined functionality with a simple aesthetic. The construction consists of an aluminium casing. The casing contains plastic components. The universal USB-C connector supports a direct connection to PCs and Macs, as well as to iPads and iPhones, without needing to install any drivers.
Backing up with the LaCie Mobile Drive Secure 4TB
The included LaCie Toolkit software helps you manage and protect your data. This tool simplifies the backup process, offering both one-click backups and the ability to set up fully automated schedules for daily, weekly, or monthly file synchronisation. The product also includes three years of Rescue Data Recovery Services. In the event of an unexpected drive failure, this gives you access to professional data recovery in Seagate labs, adding extra protection for your projects.
