The QNAP TS-1273AU-RP-8G data storage is designed for storing, backing up, and centrally managing business data in a network environment. This 2U rack server offers twelve bays for hard drives and SSDs, complemented by high-speed network ports and expansion slots. The device runs on the QuTS hero operating system and supports advanced virtualisation platforms and container applications. Computing power with an AMD Ryzen processor
At its core is a quad-core AMD Ryzen V1500B processor with a 2.2GHz frequency and a 64-bit x86 architecture. This processor, with its eight threads, handles demanding business applications and multitasking. The 8GB of DDR4 system memory can be expanded up to 64GB using two slots that support ECC modules. AES-NI hardware encryption protects stored data, with sequential read speeds of 2148MB/s and write speeds of 1443MB/s.
High-speed network connection
The device includes two integrated 2.5Gbps ports, which are backward compatible with 1GbE, 100MbE, and 10MbE speeds. These ports work with existing CAT5e cabling. By combining both ports, you can increase the total transfer speed to 5Gbps using Trunking technology. The network interface also supports Wake-on-LAN and Jumbo Frame technology. When transferring files in a Windows system, the dual connection achieves a read speed of 542MB/s.
Expandability with PCIe slots
Two PCIe Gen 3 ×4 slots are used for installing expansion cards to add more functions. These bays can be fitted with 10Gbps network adapters or QM2 combo cards. These cards add fast M.2 SSDs for use as a cache or for network connectivity. With a suitable adapter, both slots can be combined into a single PCIe Gen 3 ×8 slot. Optionally, a low-profile graphics card without external power can also be installed.
Backup and advanced operating system
The device supports the QuTS hero operating system, which won the 2026 MSP Today Product of the Year award. Administrators can flexibly switch to the standard QTS operating system according to their current data storage management requirements. Data backup, recovery, and synchronisation are unified into a single interface. Users can back up data to local, remote, and cloud storage. Individual file versions can be restored using integrated tools.
Virtualisation on the QNAP TS-1273AU-RP-8G
The platform supports hosting virtual machines with Windows, Linux, and UNIX systems. The Virtualization Station and Container Station tools are used for deploying microservices and containers. The Network & Virtual Switch directly allocates physical network resources to individual services. The device is certified for VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Citrix environments.
