The device is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core AMD Ryzen V1500B processor that processes eight threads simultaneously. The system automatically moves frequently used data to fast SSDs and stores less-used data on standard hard drives. This technology significantly reduces file access latency. The SSD cache accelerates random data access and helps when working with databases and virtual machines. The slots are located directly on the device's motherboard.
Expansion options
Two PCIe Gen 3 ×4 slots allow the installation of standard-profile expansion cards to increase application potential. Users can add 5GbE or 10GbE network cards, Wi-Fi 6 wireless adapters, or QM2 cards for additional M.2 SSDs. The free slots provide great flexibility for future upgrades to the company's network infrastructure. It is also possible to install SAS or SATA expansion cards to connect additional TL and REXP storage units, increasing the total data storage capacity.
Choice of operating system
The device supports two operating systems, giving users a choice based on their specific project requirements. The QuTS hero operating system uses the advanced ZFS file system, which brings data integrity, inline deduplication, compression, and compaction for optimal protection. The system requires at least 8GB of RAM for reliable operation. The second option is the standard QTS operating system, which is suitable for general file sharing, data synchronisation between teams, and hybrid storage combining HDDs and SSDs.
Virtualisation and graphics card support
The storage supports hosting containerised applications and virtual machines with various operating systems. The device is certified for VMware Ready, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix, and Veeam Ready for easy backup of virtual machines. Users can install compatible NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics cards in the free PCIe slots, which do not require external power cables. The cards boost performance when editing and transcoding 4K UHD videos, when displaying in the QTS system, or when redirecting GPU performance to virtual machines.
