After half a year it started to repeatedly report an error that the battery is not charged even though I charge for several hours. Rebooting doesn't work - it still reports an error. I would expect a longer life from a reader worth that many thousands.
I am very happy with the reader, I bought the raspberry version with ads. I was counting on being able to turn off the ads simply through the amazon site (for a fee), but I was told by support that this option is only for US and UK customers. Well, after searching the internet I found out that you can do it even if you live elsewhere, so I finally got them off. 😄 It's just a pity that you can't buy Czech books on amazon, so you have to upload them to your library. I have charged the reader once and so far it has lasted over 3 weeks. It makes me read more than I did before. 📚 It is foldable and fits everywhere. I recommend💯

It's not clear to me why they can't put a simple book structure into a reader that's been in development for years.
The experience with the initial setup was not great. It was necessary to finally log in on the computer and only then did the reader start working, even though it pretended that everything could be set up from the reader. Otherwise, it would have been the obvious choice, but these are beauty defects.

I bought it because of the backlit display so I could read in the dark without light (like on a trek, camping, etc). After researching comparisons with the standard Kindle (which also has a backlight but simpler), I chose the Paperwhite version, despite the higher price, and I have no regrets. The backlit display is really cool, the ability to adjust the brightness and temperature of the backlight to your exact needs is perfect.
The touch controls in particular make some setup and organization and searching quicker than it was with the old push-button Kindles, but it took me a while to get used to it and figure out what was where. I bought the Kindle as an "unboxed" piece and got it without the box and manual (if there is one), so I had to explore, discover and try everything. I haven't figured out if it's possible to set up a list of books with just the names, without previews of the covers. This is extremely unergonomic and slow to render. Unfortunately, according to the internet, you can't turn it off completely. Even in collections, it's quite a hindrance.
It still can't automatically create collections by author, that's really Amazon's incredible incompetence. So in the beginning you have to spend a few dozen minutes straightening your book collection.
It's got enough memory to cram the entire town library in the county town and maybe there's still some left over.
But it reads really well.
