I have a Canon EOS R8 and an RF 24-105mm L IS USM lens. I bought the RF 100-400mm to take photos of animals at the zoo and football matches. Up until now, I'd been using an EOS 55-250 EF-S (bought for my Canon 200D APS-C DSLR), but in combination with the EOS R8, it wasn't quite right (due to the crop factor). That's why I was looking for a longer focal length and chose from Canon's range. The RF 100-400mm lens won me over not only in terms of my needs and expectations, but also because of the product description and reviews from pros and enthusiastic amateurs alike. The price and especially the weight of the lens (635g compared to 1640g for the L series) were also deciding factors. Immediately after buying it, I went out into the field and took photos at the zoo. My expectations were completely met. The photos are perfect, absolutely beautiful, with detailed rendering and sharp focus. I carry it on a shoulder strap so it's always handy, and the weight is fantastic. It does a brilliant job, buying it was a great decision, I'm delighted to have it, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Buyers will be pleasantly surprised by the wide range of uses for this product. Naturally, this is with respect to the product's technical specifications, which are, however, fully met.
Well-chosen materials (glass) and technology for the best possible image quality from the lens. The image stabilisation works excellently (I managed to get a sharp shot at 1/80sec at a 400mm zoom using a shoulder rig). Software support in the viewfinder is superb; in manual mode, you can also clearly see the focused distance in real time, alongside standard exposure values and other parameters about the scene being shot. The lens mechanics work smoothly with no play and with great precision. The lens is lightweight and has a compact size. Another plus is the wide focusing range starting from just 88cm with excellent sharpness. Exposure parameters can also be selected by turning the first lens ring from the lens hood.
Some bundle offers do not include the ET-74B (JJC LH74B) lens hood, which I consider to be a major drawback for a lens with image performance that exceeds general expectations in this category.

I bought in the summer sale with cash back it cost me 14 499, - and for that price it is a great lens. Ideal in combination with an APS-C body for longer reach (160-640mm).

Solid workmanship

5 EV stabilisation
The lower f/5.6-8 lightness should be taken into account
Not L series so don't count on the sun visor

Apart from the lower light performance it is great, but this disadvantage is compensated by very good stabilization.
Quiet and fast focusing, compact size and weight. And when it was on sale it was also a great price compared to other telephoto lenses.

If you keep an eye on ISO and shutter speed with f8, you'll get perfect images
Superior drawing and sharpness
Thanks to the f8 aperture, you need to keep an eye on the ISO depending on the shutter speed. But I knew that when I bought it.

I have been looking forward to this glass for quite a long time. I am fully aware of the pros and cons of this product and therefore I think the price/performance ratio is really awesome. I'm taking one star off because Canon doesn't supply sun visors as standard, which is a de***ce imho.

Super price nice photo of birds in flight if you don't feel the twilight. No problem. If you have a camera with a high ISO noise solution, then really OK.
