For the more discerning person, used to video output from Micro43 sensor cameras or even the first generation DJI Osmo Pocket, who gets this model as their first GoPro, the output quality of the GoPro 13 Hero Black on factory settings may be a bit of a shock.
On a beautiful sunny day, the image is usable, however the colours require correction (e.g. very intense saturation of blue). In poorer quality lighting (dusk, but also during the day if it is cloudy) the output is already visibly degraded and reminiscent of the output of a phone ten years ago.
I believe that with the official firmware the bitrate is limited to 120 Mbps.
A certain noticeable improvement and increase in data flow can be achieved by experimenting with the settings via GoPro Labs, where it is necessary to configure the parameters in great detail and then create a QR code that the camera will read.
An interesting system, but one that acts as a temporary solution for a prototype and not for a commercially sold product in the thirteenth generation. Many parameters cannot be set using the on-device menu, even after installing GoPro Labs.
I decided to sell the product after a month of trying to find a usable setup. It's a shame, some of the features in GoPro Labs are interesting and would be worth pursuing if the output quality was better. It did not improve sufficiently even after adjusting the colour, bitrate, noise and sharpness settings.
