Some people might mind that it has no insulation (you can burn yourself on it), but it's the largest 'coffee' kettle we could find. You can also turn off the sound signal, which, along with its good pouring action, is probably the best feature in the world. It doesn't signal when it's finished boiling either, making it easy to forget about, so it's a good idea to switch on the 'keep warm' function at the same time. The 5°C temperature increments are quite awkward if you want real precision (on our coffee machine, we adjust it degree by degree). Since we have another appliance that does this for us, we don't mind.

There’s a sort of silicone protrusion on the base of the kettle, and I’ve no idea what it’s for.

I couldn’t work out how the ‘keep warm’ function works; the display switches off after about 15 seconds. If all you need to do is press the function button and set the temperature, then it probably doesn’t work very well – though I did test it with the lid removed.
