I used to own the Xtreme 3 and I figured why settle for this little speaker when I can buy this monstrous and most importantly powerful JBL boombox 3, which for me is really a blast. JBL sounds the whole apartment and fills it with brutal dynamics, as if you had a home cinema. It's not necessary to have a subwoofer. Going from one room to another, down a long corridor, it feels like I'm in a club somewhere playing a few kilowatts and then in the room itself this portable little thing plays an incredibly pleasing sound filled with breathtaking Sound balanced with nicely distorted highs and audible mids. The 3 band design is noticeable and enough. The speaker carries well but unfortunately the manufacturer has not solved the base(quite flimsy). I think it's a shame. The overall impression of the product is very above average and I have to say that it is probably the best and most powerful portable bluetooth speaker I have had the opportunity to own and test. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good sound system for both home and away. Personally, I can't imagine having these two speakers paired into a stereo.
