Finding an ideal charger in the form of a stand at least 2in1 that is MFM is almost impossible.
I want a rack, not a puck. I was looking for a replacement for the FIXED MagPowerstation ALU with MagSafe mounting support, where the phone heats up significantly when charging and the speed is also not dizzying. Since I couldn't find any 2in1/3in1 MFM stand, I reached for this QI2 charger, which is MagSafe compatible and should allow my iPhone 16 Pro Max to charge up to 25-30W. Thanks to QI2, it also communicates with the phone and adjusts the charging power according to the temperature. I let the phone drop to about 10-15% and connected the charger via KWS 2303C (real-time A, V, W meter) to the AlzaPower M200 Multi Charge Power Delivery 90W - specifically to the USB-C port with up to 60W of power. I used a USB-C cable supporting up to 100W. Still, I can't get the charging speed close to the maximum. When the phone isn't hot and has a low battery, the iPhone 16 Pro Max should take power close to 25-30W. Even under ideal conditions, I can't get more than 9.8 W.
I understand that at 80% capacity the phone won't take 20 watts, nor will it when it's at 40 degrees. QI2 will reduce the power depending on the temperature thanks to the communication protocol. It doesn't make sense to me that the restriction occurs even when the device should have ideal conditions for maximum charging. Even the "old" FIXED MagPowerstation ALU with MagSafe achieves approximately 9 W. The values in watts are not even the ones that actually "flow" into the phone, because there are losses when charging. I'm not able to quantify how big the losses are in my case or in wireless charging in general. I didn't give up and I also bought the original Apple MagSafe charger which gave a peak of 28.32W. Actually, there's nothing to worry about. I'll print the stand on a 3D printer and it will be.
