After a successful FW update the reciever stopped communicating with the TV via HDMI. The TV (Philips Oled+ 2024) wrote a message about failure to switch the audio source, or a problem with communication over HDMI. There have been several resets of the recievereu, turning off and on the ARC in the TV, in the reciever and the sound is still nowhere. After running the test mods the sound suddenly went, after the test mod ended the reciever reset itself to factory settings and the sound did not go again. After more than an hour of mordanting and cursing, I gave it a rest. When I came back from lunch and went through the initial setup again after resetting the reciever, the sound suddenly started working again. I hope it stays that way. I also hope that these "new" models have already sorted out the design of the HDMI boards, which are notorious for their frequent failure in older Onkyo recievers.

My Onkyo TX-RZ710 (transistors in the preamplifier) went out. cost me a nonsense as a second-hand piece and lasted a year. so I replaced it with this Receiver. Compared to the devices, the NR5100 is a good bit ahead. The speed of loading from USB and moving in the menu is incomparably faster. The presentation of the music and the overall expression is completely different, it just lacks performance. I feed it to Wharfedale 11.4, center and 11.1 in the back. The amplifier goes relatively early into limiting and higher distortion, it's not a party in this combination. but for very loud listening it's enough. Overall, I have improved and it is evident that Onkyo has moved forward again. For movies and listening to music for me above average.
