the soundbar as such sounds great, but the standalone is underwhelming and with the whole set, with which it must be a complete blast, is again expensive for me. I swapped for a 5.1.3 LG 480W for 20% cheaper than the Sony bar alone. I have a historical soft spot for SONY, but for me, the wallet won out at the moment.

After three weeks of use, the soundbar works as expected. The connection to the TV is functional, the control with the TV remote works well. Sometimes it happens that when the speaker is in Spotify playback mode (via phone) it doesn't turn on itself the next time you turn on the TV and has to turn it on manually. The sound and spatial perception is first class.

The SB has a very good sound for its size. Connectivity is exemplary thanks to Chromecast, Spotify and Apple, so there's no need to turn on the TV just for music or connect your phone/tablet via BT. When watching TV content, the inability to switch sound profiles via the remote is a pain, if I want to try the difference between Sony profile, DTS or Dolby I have to switch the HDMI output to SB, go to the sound settings, switch to the preferred output and go back to the TV. Which kind of misses the point, because you most likely won't hear the change anyway. The Sony Bravia Connect app could have solved this problem, but it doesn't support any of the "A" series products. I appreciate the ability to expand the SB with a subwoofer and rear speakers, which are offered in two price levels, both wireless. If you have a Bravia TV of a higher model series, the TV and SB can be connected and synchronise the sound.

Disappointed with the purchase of this soundbar We have had this product in our home for over a month and I feel very disappointed with it. One, for me huge, disadvantage is the lack of English in the setup mode. Just an incomprehensible thing to me. Another thing that disappointed me is the sound setup. I can switch the TV's sound in the operating mode, so I can hear an instant change in the settings and therefore know which sound suits my ears better. This is not possible with this soundbar. If I want to change the sound of the soundbar, both the picture and sound will turn off on the TV and jump to the soundbar settings screen. By the time you change the sound settings and retune to the same scene to compare the sound, you de facto don't remember the sound before. For me, another major malaise. I'm a little disappointed with the soundbar performance when watching TV, as I feel like the sound is better from it in some cases (XR-55A80L). As for listening to music, I have to praise the soundbar there. The music from it sounds very nice and you can hear the bass beautifully.
