I switched from the Asustor 5304T, which was a rival to the Synology 923 at the time. It had better specs, especially the 2x 2.5Gb network interface. What bothered me terribly was that the disks never hibernated, because it was always writing to the disk, the problem was solved on the asustor portal, but it was not solved for xyears. Another problem was the design, which constantly resonated very unpleasantly and I turned off the NAS after work. Synology is in a different league. Quiet, disks hibernate, everything works as it should. I bought a DS223j for my family with the purchase of the DS225+ and I was pleased to manage both devices via DSFinder and via the DSM web interface as a Disk station expansion pack.
Quiet, reliable, fast, SW tuned, design dampens the discs well (of course it is audible enough when searching) but the whole design does not vibrate at rest like the competition, see below
RAM can be expanded with any DDR4 module, not only as described by the manufacturer max. +4GB module. I also tried the ECC 16GB module(manufacturer states nonECC) and it loaded and ran for a week without problems. In the end I swapped for 8GB because 16GB was unnecessary overkill for me
The read and write speeds are also higher than the manufacturer's stated speed. With the HAT3310-12T drives, read and write speeds are approximately 280MB/s
Perhaps only the DSFile application, where there is a problem with the session manager. If the app is running in the background on the phone, then the session/token expires and if you open the app after a longer time, it does not connect to the account/NAS and you have to close the app and reconnect.
