Used in an external box. When connected directly via USB3, speeds are around 240 MBps. The disc is quiet even when the box is lying directly on the table, only when writing are sometimes heard headers in such a case. After I placed the box on a flexible pad, even this sound is almost inaudible. That's why I chose the 5500 rpm version, which should be quiet. For me, the disk replaces the ready-made solution "in plastic" from WD, where a person buys literally a rabbit in the bag and then is surprised that his disk (unsurprisingly with shingle SMR) after less than two years of connection to the router goes away (operated as a home network drive connected to the router, samba). The Red Plus is a network drive, so it should be able to withstand that kind of traffic. I can't judge the durability yet, but in other aspects I am very satisfied after a month of operation (speed, temperatures, noise level. )
