I’ve switched from my original Wacom Intuos M PTH-651, which I think is an excellent tablet: ) However, after trying out the screen, I felt like a change.
I have to say that I personally find this tablet suits me down to the ground, and after two months of drawing with it, I’m absolutely thrilled with it, even though I wasn’t sure at first because of the reviews.
Now for the points that are often raised in reviews. Matt nano-etched anti-glare – Yes, it does have that matt finish I was worried about. Some people describe a blurring effect that bothers them.
Personally, I have to say that I don’t think that’s such a big or crucial issue. I don’t really notice it, and I find it very easy to draw on the frosted matt finish as it has a slightly rougher texture. However, the colours may be slightly duller than on tablets without this effect!
However, I only have a standard 2.5k monitor at home.
If you have a better 4K TV at home, perhaps your eyes are used to a higher resolution – I can’t really say; ) Ergonomics – Unfortunately, yes, you may experience pain in your back, neck, shoulder or wrist… A tablet stand ensures that you sit fairly upright, look straight ahead and rest your arm on it.
I struggled with a sore throat for the first week, but then it sort of settled down.
If you work long hours every day and are already feeling some pain, I’d recommend sticking with a flatbread. 16k pressure pen – To be honest, I was expecting a bigger ‘wow’ factor when switching from the 2048 pressure pen: It’s not that I didn’t notice the difference, but I immediately thought that an 8k pen would have to do, and I’d be interested to know how people who’ve switched from an 8k pen perceive that leap. Perhaps model makers feel this more keenly: ) I'm just an illustrator.
Size – The tablet is really big, even bigger than I expected, even though I tried to measure everything. It may be 22 inches, but the whole tablet – including the thick bezels, not just the active display area – is about 25 inches.
So don’t forget to make sure you have enough space.
I was also worried that the cursor might lag behind the pen, but the latency when drawing (I don’t know about modelling and animation) is minimal and I don’t notice it, so that’s great.
The stand is included in the pack (in case anyone was wondering)
The RC/mini remote for shortcuts is included too.
I’d give it 4.5 ⭐️
