The First Fallen

Pink Monday 1933: Gereon Rath is in Cologne for the carnival and celebrates as he should. The next morning starts with a serious hangover, the wrong woman in bed and a phone call from the police headquarters. The Reichstag is on fire! All holidays are cancelled with immediate effect! Rath immediately returns to Berlin. He is drawn into a hunt for communists by the political police and must solve a mysterious series of murders in which more and more World War II veterans fall victim.
