WD Purple 8TB
The WD Purple 8TB hard disk is one of the high load internal HDDs for 24/7 monitoring systems, e.g. security cameras. The 3.5" format is designed chiefly for desktop computers and data centres. One of the main parameters is obviously the rotational speed (RPM). The 7200 RPM RPM provides better system response across the board. The overall data capacity of the HDD is 8000 GB. The storage uses a 256 MB memory cache. You can connect the Western Digital hard disk and the PC or other devices is facilitated through the SATA III interface.
WD Purple 8TB Hard Disk Key Features
- Read speed up to 245 MB/s and write speed up to 245 MB/s
- 256 MB memory cache
- Western Digital 3.5" disk for ordinary drive bays
- Standard power consumption is 8,6 W, while in stand-by mode it makes 0.4 W
- All the data communication takes place using the SATA III interface
- Standard hard drives are admittedly more susceptible to physical damage, but they also deliver a better storage capacity for less money than SSDs
- Improved data recording thanks to Advanced Format technology
Other Hard Disk Features
Platter HDDs have a special construction. Inside the drive there is a mechanism that utilises moving platters accompanied by hard disk heads that facilitate reading and writing of data. These mechanical parts are admittedly more sensitive to shocks, but at the same time you get its amazing price/capacity ratio. The key criterion that determines the speed of a HDD is the number of platter revolutions per minute, generally known as RPM. In case of the WD Purple 8TB, you would get 7200 RPM revolutions per minute. This is great news for people who demand more from their devices, for example video editors, graphic artists, people who play PC games, and everybody else who deal with large amounts of data. System responsivity and overall stability is also impacted by the disk buffer - the so-called cache. The Western Digital platter drive is equipped with a 256 MB cache that stores the last used data for their fast retrieval and reading.
Connecting the Western Digital Hard Disk
If you want to install the WD Purple 8TB in your PC or other device, it requires a 3.5" slot. Data transfer is done via the SATA III interface with a speed of 3 Gbit/s. The technology ranks among the most popular HDD data transfer solutions available and delivers a speed of 600 MB/s.
