Founded by brothers Assefa and Mulugeta Dukamo, Daye Bensa Coffee started as a small family farm in the Bensa (Sidama) area. Today, it is one of the most important exporters of fine coffee in Ethiopia, combining production from its own stations with coffee from hundreds of smallholders. The Mirado key station is located at a higher altitude and the humid microclimate creates conditions for slow ripening of the cherries, which is reflected in the rich sweetness and distinctive aroma. The modern infrastructure allows the processing of up to 800 tonnes of coffee per harvest.
Dry processing practices
The coffee is processed using the natural method - the careful selection of ripe cherries and their drying on African beds brings a pure fruity expression with notes of peach, amaretto and cane sugar. Daye Bensa also supports small-scale growers with training and sales, and applies practices such as composting and water management in the stations. This strengthens the stability of local communities.

That's why we pack our coffees in opaque, triple-layered bags that protect the contents from air, moisture and light. It includes a handy zipper closure so you don't have to pour the coffee anywhere - simply reseal the bag after opening. The one-way valve allows the natural gases produced after roasting to escape, but at the same time does not let air in. As a result, AlzaCafé coffee stays fresh and full of flavour for many weeks or months. For maximum quality, we recommend storing it dry and at a constant temperature, out of the fridge and freezer.
