APC Smart-UPS 2200VA LCD RM 2U 230V rack-mount, with network card

The APC Smart-UPS 2200VA is a line-interactive UPS, designed by the manufacturer for mounting in a 2U rack. With an output of 2200VA (1980W), it delivers reliable power to servers and critical network infrastructure. It supplies connected devices with a pure sine wave output, providing the necessary protection for sensitive electronics. At full load, it will maintain operation for 5 minutes and 27 seconds, while at half load, the backup time extends to 16 minutes and 6 seconds. It includes a pre-installed network card, which, along with the integrated LCD display showing key operating statuses and parameters, simplifies management and monitoring. In addition, Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) stabilises grid fluctuations without needing to switch to battery power.

Power output and voltage stabilisation

This UPS uses line-interactive topology, which utilises Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR). This feature corrects undervoltage and overvoltage without needing to switch to battery power, thereby extending battery life and protecting sensitive electronics. The UPS delivers an apparent power of 2200VA and a real power of 1980W, a level suitable for powering servers, network components, and other critical infrastructure. The pure sine wave output mimics a standard mains supply and is therefore fully compatible with the active PFC power supplies of modern servers.

Battery and protection

At the heart of the device is the RBC43 lead-acid battery module, which you can hot-swap and fully recharge in 3 hours. This design makes maintenance easier without needing to shut down connected appliances. Furthermore, PowerChute software provides a predictive battery replacement date, which simplifies service planning. A surge protection rating of 375J protects connected devices from damage caused by power spikes, surges or lightning strikes.

Remote management and software

The pre-installed Network Management Card 3 enables remote monitoring and management over Ethernet. The communication interface is complemented by a USB port and an RS-232 serial port for local connections. It includes PowerChute Network Shutdown software, which coordinates the automatic safe shutdown of servers, virtual machines and HCI clusters during a prolonged power outage. The UPS can be integrated into the EcoStruxure IT platform or third-party centralised management systems for unified monitoring.

Installation, connectivity and sockets

You can mount the UPS in a standard 19" rack, where it occupies 2U of height. A complete mounting kit including support rails is included. The device measures 86×480×683mm and weighs 42.22kg. For connecting to the mains, it uses IEC C20 input connectors for British BS1363A and Schuko CEE 7/EU1-16P. To power appliances, it offers eight IEC C13 sockets and one high-current IEC C19 socket. Three IEC jumper cables are included.
