If you need to shorten the bar, it is made of aluminum and can be cut quite easily (but I don't recommend a carbine but either a hand-held hacksaw with an inserted aluminum slice, or an acoustic hacksaw again with an aluminum slice - the reason is that the carbine will make a big burr and you usually can't keep an exact plane). The disadvantage is that after shortening, there is no pitch in the given location for the screws. The bolt can be screwed in (the bolt is steel and cuts the pitch in the aluminium profile as if by itself), but the bolt hole is an open comole circle, so that when more force is applied the bolt tends to not keep the plane and to slide sideways
I would suggest selling the rail in some smaller, but also common lengths (e.g. 50cm etc. )
