It's working as it should. During the first setup the phone must be connected to 2.4MHz wifi, otherwise the initial setup fails and must be repeated.
I have been using one for several years and it is reliable.
Attention: for Thread/Matter you must have a Wifi router with IPv6 support on the internal network side. It uses both link-local and unique-local addresses.
