I had a 15 year old hifi (25 year old) tower with 30cm high speakers by my PC. I was buying a larger monitor so the tower had to give way to something more compact. I was worried about covering them with some kind of fabricated crap. I originally wanted some Adam monitors, IK multimedia, small bodies, miserable bass. I'm not going to risk buying boxes for 8k, I'll try it on something cheaper. My suspicions have been confirmed, but I'm lying. The T40 is just a box for PC, for games and listening to something on youtube. I definitely wouldn't use them for music, any music, no matter how loud, they're just not up to it - or rather they're not up to much

don't expect any hit parade, the bass is like a plastic box-on it's plastic. The rule of thumb is there are no proper bass without it.
the knobs shouldn't slip so much and go so stiff, moreover, they cut off in the middle, so sometimes it happens that I feel that I'm at MAX with the bass and it's like, oh my gosh, only in the middle
why were there 2 cables in the box for EU and USa socket, a reducer would be enough, unnecessary waste
for bass I would choose some more powerful speakers next time

If you're looking for compact and powerful 2.0 speakers with good sound, the Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II is worth a look. For me, with limited space next to the monitor, their narrow design is an ideal choice.
Sure, there are better speakers out there, but in this price and size range, the T40 Series II offers a really decent audio experience. The bass is not thunderous as in subwoofer sets, but it is clear and strong enough, while the highs and mids are nicely balanced. I perceive the sound as detailed, and their potential was fully manifested when connected to a high-quality internal Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus sound card. It is the combination of these speakers and a quality sound card (either internal or external) that is key to getting the most out of these Creative. In the card's control program I set only very minor corrections in the equalizer and some parameters, which indicates a good speaker base.
Practical pluses: headphone jacks and line input are available directly on the front of the speaker. I also appreciate the separate potentiometers for bass and treble for quick sound adjustments. The speakers also have a removable fabric protection (grille), which I have kept for better speaker protection, but can be easily removed if you prefer a cleaner design.
A small drawback is the glossy appearance that easily catches fingerprints, dust and the shiny, slightly slippery control potentiometers, because of which I deduct one point from the overall rating.
Conclusion: Despite the cosmetic flaws, it is a very good buy for anyone who needs decent bass, nice mids/highs and above all, an economical size on the desk within the category.
