The 12V adapter that is directly in the power supply destroys exactly one connector in the 12V cable every time. I ordered the power supply 2x because the first time the adapter destroyed my cable and the second time too. I believe there is something wrong with the adapter, because the other end of the cable I plugged into the video card is perfectly fine
! A useful manual is missing! Not like the included 20-language micro-printed strip of paper, where it would be clearly stated with a big exclamation mark!, that you need to use original cables for IDE- SATA !. I never had any problem with this until now. I left the original cassette and the three HDDs in the new power supply, the cables fit, so I didn't even check their inputs to the power supply on the cable. Nowhere is there any mention of this being necessary because their cables are re-polarized! The result is 3 HDDs destroyed for about 10 000, - CZK and destroyed data (about 9 TB of data and clouds of backups. serial keys to the programs). The backups were on two HDDs in case one of them failed, but thanks to Gigabyte all 3 HDDs were destroyed without warning.
The cables are not even marked, let alone described! You have to measure them with a tape measure and use the length to determine what the cable is from the picture on the 20-foot strip of paper.
The power supply works, it has a 12V cable that I don't even need. However, the efficiency is not 92%, but load dependent. According to the manufacturer at low load the efficiency is 70%, which is not what I wanted. I wanted it to be as high as possible even with a light load. I was also disappointed by the 80+ Platinum designation, and hopefully I didn't miss anything.
efficiency how much?
over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, overload, overload, short circuit protection and active PFC
Modularity
I don't even need that 12V output, but it's there, so the nvidia RTX 5090 will work just fine.
92% at 50% load (source https://www.gigabyte.cz/components/GP-AE850PM-PG5/Key-Features ), so it's not 92% efficiency all the time. 50% load is 425W. I'm running on 38W now and I read on the page above, "and achieving 70% efficiency at low loads" which bothers me with this power supply because I wanted 92% at 38W and not 70%. Plus, I was expecting it to always be at least 80% efficiency for an 80+ Platinum power supply, but I guess it's not after all, unless I missed something. I think I'll buy a power supply marked 80 Plus Titanium. Buying anything less efficient is a waste of electricity that has been flowing for years and years, and I pay exorbitant amounts for it every year. It pays to pay more for the source in one lump sum and then pay less for electricity annually.
Although I originally wrote a positive review, it was only through other reviews that I noticed that I also got the PCIe 5.0 version. Anyway, to have this model with PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 5.1 under the same product number on the manufacturer's website seems to me to be a completely incomprehensible thing and if it is really a coincidence which version one gets, then good luck.
Of course, this is a banality at first sight, but something like this simply must not happen. Huge thumbs down for Gigabyte, as I see the misconduct more on their side.
cables are not described, some sources have everything described (CPU, GPU, etc. )
