The plastic drive deteriorates under load and limits the machine's usefulness. Otherwise, great appliance. In my case, I was making chicken gyros. The chicken thighs were the problem. The machine did manage to slice and chop the chicken, but it struggled and there is slight, but obvious, wear on the plastic drive on the base unit. Fragments and dust of plastic to be specific. Now that I know it can't really handle this job, I shall buy a purpose built meat grinder to grind the meat before putting it in the food processor. However, I question the longevity of this appliance when I can see obvious wear from one heavy job. This would not happen if it had a metal drive. The motor can handle the job (650W), but the plastic drive can not. I don't think this is unusual in appliances in this price range, but it is frustrating. Otherwise, chopping, slicing or grating vegetables is super easy and no sweat for this machine. I haven't tried cheese yet, but I expect that to be no problem.
