Just a comment - I know, but I've seen people "surprised" by this:
When you have a credit card in your cover pocket, it will interfere with NFC, so you won't be able to pay with Google Pay or your card. In addition, notifications may pop up when the phone detects an NFC device, and the phone may (unexpectedly) vibrate or make a sound because of this. If you want to use the payment card in your pocket, you'll have to turn off NFC in your phone's settings, and give up Google Pay.
It may also apply to some types of access cards. A citizen's/driver's licence is OK in this respect.
