Unfortunately, it's happened to me a few times that when I was putting the bottle into the machine, I accidentally leaned on the top part of it, which started the carbonation and water sprayed all over the kitchen. In my opinion, the controls are a bit poorly designed in this respect, and I'd appreciate some kind of safety feature to prevent accidental pressing.
Another impractical thing is that after every carbonation, water is left in the upper part of the mechanism where the bottle attaches. To get it out, I have to shake the whole machine or tilt it to let the water drain. What's more, the machine doesn't have any drip tray at the bottom, so the water runs straight onto the kitchen counter. I had an older SodaStream model and I must say it was much better designed in terms of practicality and everyday use. From a newer model, I would expect improvements rather than a step backwards.
