Multiple power modes for every occasion

Fenix HL17R offers a total of four levels of white light brightness and five atmospheric colour modes. A strong distance light for hiking, a soft light for map reading, a space light as a camping lamp, or a safety flashlight and signal light. This headlamp has it all. Gesture-sensing function allows you to turn the light off and on by waving your hand in front of the headlamp, so you can keep your hands free of mud, oils and anything else while you work and your flashlight stays clean.

Durable and comfortable headlamp for everyday adventures

The headlamp retains water resistance to IP66 standard, so it can withstand heavy rain without problems. Reflective elements on the strap increase your safety when moving in the dark. Forget about slipping off the headlamp. The double elastic strap perfectly distributes pressure and provides an almost "weightless" feeling when wearing. You can wear a headband for hours and not even know it's there. Thanks to its versatility, its low weight and durable design make it the perfect choice for hikers, runners, campers, fishermen, DIY, but also for everyday carrying in a backpack as a standby or emergency light.

Switching on/off and switching modes

When the headlamp is unlocked, press and hold the main switch for 0.5 seconds to turn it on/off. The light functions of the selected lighting method are then switched by briefly pressing the same switch. When switching between white light and coloured light, turn the light ring clockwise to select the lighting mode White light → Coloured light.

Locking/unlocking

With the headlamp on, turn the light ring counterclockwise (to the lock position) to lock it. Turn the light ring clockwise to unlock the flashlight and enter the previously used power of the currently selected light mode.

Gesture control of the headlamp

With the headlamp on, press and hold the sensor switch, the headlamp will flash white three times and the gesture sensing function indicator will flash blue to indicate that the function is activated. After activating this function, you can turn the headlamp on/off with a wave of your hand. With the headlamp on, press and hold the sensor switch again to deactivate this function. Turning off or locking the headlamp disables gesture sensing. To use this feature, reactivate it after turning on the headlamp. The sensing range is up to approximately 10 cm in front of the headlamp and may vary slightly depending on the material and colour of the subject, ambient light, selected light output and flick speed. Gesture sensing uses an infrared sensor. If an object other than your hand moves in the sensing range in front of the headlamp, the headlamp may also turn on/off.

Memory for the last set power mode

The headlamp has a memory and turns on in the last power mode of the selected lighting mode.

Intelligent overheating protection

When using the headlamp in high power mode, a large amount of heat is accumulated. When the headlamp reaches a temperature of 60°C or higher, it will automatically reduce the power by a few lumens to lower the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60 °C, the power output will gradually increase again.

Battery charge indication

Each time the headlamp is switched on, or when the button is pressed when the headlamp is switched off, the indicator LED is activated for three seconds. If the indicator LED is green, the battery is more than 85% charged. Green flashing indicates 50-85% capacity. If it is red, it is 25-50% charged. A red flash indicates that less than 25% of the battery capacity remains.

Low battery warning

If the battery voltage drops below the set level, the headlamp will gradually reduce the brightness to a lower level. When the lowest power level is reached, the battery charge indicator will flash red to remind you to recharge the battery.

Charging

Turn off the headlamp and plug the USB-C charging cable into the charging port. During charging, the indicator glows red. When fully charged, it will light up green. During charging, the headlamp can be used in all but the highest mode.

Note:
Do not disassemble the sealed parts yourself, this will violate the warranty. Lock the headlamp to prevent accidental activation during storage or transport. When storing, check the headlamp every four months or recharge it to about 50% for optimum battery life. If the headlamp flashes, does not switch to higher power modes or does not light up, it may be due to one of the following reasons - the battery is dead - charge it or the headlamp is locked - unlock it.
