It primarily focuses on preserving a wide dynamic range, which is the ability to record details simultaneously in very bright and very dark parts of a scene. Footage shot in this profile appears unremarkable at first glance – it has low contrast, weak colors, and looks "flat". This appearance is intentional, as such an image contains the maximum amount of data for further editing. The footage is not intended for direct use but serves as raw material for post-production, specifically for the process called "color grading" or color correction. In this phase, the video is given the desired contrast, color saturation, and overall visual style. This process provides creators with great flexibility and control over the final look of the video.
