Homematic IP HmIP-SWDM-2 is a wireless magnetic sensor designed to detect the opening and closing of windows or doors. Within the Homematic IP smart home system, it can be used for both home security and automatic heating control during ventilation. When a window or door opens, the system can send a push notification to the Homematic IP app, activate linked security functions, or lower the heating via a compatible thermostatic radiator valve. You can also use the sensor in standalone mode with selected Homematic IP Basic devices without a central unit.

Security and heating control in a single sensor
The magnetic contact detects when the sensor and magnetic element separate, allowing the system to use this change for security or heating regulation. In security mode, the system alerts you via push notifications in the Homematic IP app, and can also trigger an audible alarm when connected to a HmIP-ASIR-2 or HmIP-ASIR-O siren. When paired with Homematic IP thermostatic radiator valves, the system automatically lowers the temperature when a window or door opens and resumes heating once closed. Without a central unit, you can combine one sensor with up to eight Basic HmIP-eTRV-B thermostatic radiator valves and one Basic HmIP-WTH-B wall thermostat.
