The QNAP TVS-h4 NAS serves as a network storage device for storing, backing up, and sharing data in both home and business environments. This device uses the QuTS hero operating system, which is based on the ZFS file system and actively protects the integrity of stored data against corruption. Users can connect up to four 3.5" SATA HDDs, 2.5" SATA HDDs, or 2.5" SATA SSDs. The storage supports file sharing using SAMBA, HFS, and CIFS protocols. The system offers integrated features for cloud backup, Apple Time Machine support, synchronisation between multiple NAS devices, and snapshot creation for data recovery.

The QuTS hero operating system uses advanced technologies for block-level data reduction. Real-time data compression and deduplication save storage space on disks and reduce SSD wear. The system supports the creation of a virtually unlimited number of snapshots and SnapSync data synchronisation for protection against ransomware. Users can configure RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, or JBOD disk arrays with a shared folder size of up to 250TB.
Virtualisation and container support
The hardware supports hosting several virtual machines and software containers on a single physical device. Users can run Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems in the Virtualization Station application. The built-in Intel UHD Graphics 710 core accelerates image recognition using Intel OpenVINO artificial intelligence for fast photo processing.
Multimedia equipment
The built-in HDMI 1.4b output supports direct display of content on a monitor or television at resolutions up to 4096×2160 at 30Hz. The Intel UHD Graphics processor ensures smooth Full HD video playback and real-time format conversion. This means users can watch stored multimedia directly on the screen without needing to turn on another computer. The device also functions as a DLNA media server for streaming on your home network.
