Shelly 5-terminal addon for Shelly Plus

Shelly 5-terminal addon for Shelly Plus
The Shelly 5-terminal add-on module for Shelly expands the hardware capabilities of the basic The Pill unit. This module provides power, grounding, and three configurable input/output terminals. The device simplifies the connection of external sensors and controls in any installation. This allows users to easily integrate buttons or analogue and digital sensors. The compact plastic case measures 44 × 23 × 10mm and has a total weight of 23g. The 24cm connecting cable with black wires makes it easy to store the module in an installation box. The device operates reliably in temperatures from 0 to 40°C at an air humidity of 30% to 70% RH. The black colour of the body matches the design of compatible accessories.
Key features of the 5-terminal add-on module for Shelly Pill
- Three configurable terminals expand the hardware capabilities of the basic unit
- Analogue input processes voltage signals in the range of 0 to 2.5V
- The module supports direct connection of DS18B20 and DHT22 temperature sensors
- The power supply terminals provide a 5V voltage with a reference ground
- Digital inputs and outputs work with a 3.3V logic level
- The total weight of the device is only 23g
- The integrated cable is 24cm long
Connection options
The module offers an interface for three configurable I/O terminals with a 3.3V logic level. The first terminal, labelled IO1, is used for connecting temperature sensors or an analogue input in the range of 0 to 2.5V. These interfaces work with both digital and analogue signals directly in the installation. The remaining two terminals, IO2 and IO3, function as dedicated digital inputs or outputs for transmitting status information to the control system.
Temperature sensor integration
Compatible DS18B20 and DHT22 temperature sensors can be connected to the module for precise measurement of ambient conditions. The system sends the measured values to the companion mobile app for further evaluation. The temperature sensors provide accurate data for automatically triggering linked processes. Installation is done via dedicated terminals with a reference ground to prevent signal interference.
Power interface
The device uses optional power supply terminals with a value of 5V and a GND reference ground. These terminals are used to power the connected sensors or to power The Pill unit itself in the switchboard. The power circuit operates with a safe low voltage to protect the components. The GND grounding terminal acts as a common reference for all connected circuits or as a neutral wire for the power supply.
Controlling switches, digital inputs and low-voltage outputs
Using the digital adapter, you can connect standard switches, magnetic contacts, buttons, or float switches to the system. A change of state on any input triggers an immediate response in the control software, which can trigger set scenes or webhooks. The system transmits changes in contact status directly to the Shelly Smart Control mobile app. This allows you to monitor a door opening or a tank filling. The output terminals can control small low-voltage devices such as indicator LEDs, buzzers, or small relays. This allows users to create visual or acoustic alerts based on sensor data. The output terminals switch the connected appliances according to the set automatic rules in the mobile app. This facilitates the integration of simple actuators, such as valves or blinds.
