Discover the fascinating world of cheetahs

Cheetahs are the fastest animals in the world. Thanks to their slender and strong body and long legs, they can accelerate up to 120 km/h in a few seconds. Cheetahs are excellent hunters. First it approaches its prey very carefully until it is a few metres away and then, at the right time, it runs off at lightning speed. If the prey suddenly changes direction, the cheetah simply turns its body mid-jump. His flexible spine allows him to do that. However, if he fails to catch his prey after a few metres, he gives up. The fact that he runs at such a high speed weakens him too much and he can only last a short distance at that pace. Cheetahs are perfectly adapted to living in the savannah. They need to drink water every three to four days.
