Game Rules - My First Chess
At the beginning of the game, the pieces are arranged according to the instructions in the package - the king is placed on square E, the queen on square D. The game is started by the white player and then the players take turns to make their moves. Each player must actually make a move on their turn, it is not possible to give up a move. The pieces are only allowed to move to the free spaces. The exception is when a player takes an opponent's piece, in which case he replaces it with his own piece on the same square. Pieces may not enter a square where another piece of the same colour is already standing. The only piece that is allowed to jump over others is the rider. A check occurs when a player's move threatens his opponent's king in such a way that he could take it in his next move. If a check occurs, the opponent is obliged to counter the attack - for example, by drawing a king to a safe square, placing another piece in the way, or removing the attacking piece.
