The MSI PRO A620AM-B EVO mATX motherboard provides a reliable foundation for workstations and efficient PC builds based on the AMD platform. Thanks to its AM5 socket and AMD A620 chipset, it offers full compatibility with AMD Ryzen 7000, 8000 and 9000 series processors. The two memory slots support DDR5 modules in Dual-Channel mode, reaching overclocked frequencies of up to 6800+ MHz with the help of AMD EXPO technology and the Memory Boost function. Performance foundation and CPU support
The board uses an AMD A620 chipset with an AM5 socket, which opens the way for using modern AMD Ryzen processors. Thanks to its mATX (Micro ATX) format, the board fits into smaller computer cases without limiting performance. Core Boost technology uses an optimised layout and digital power design for stable and precise current delivery to multi-core processors. The board is ready for Ryzen 7000, 8000 and future 9000 series processors, offering a platform with long-term relevance for future upgrades.
Memory and storage
The board offers two DIMM slots for system memory, supporting DDR5 modules in a dual-channel configuration. Thanks to Memory Boost technology, which optimises signal paths, and support for AMD EXPO profiles, it achieves overclocked frequencies of over 6800MHz. For storage, the board offers one M.2 slot with a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface, ready for a high-speed NVMe SSD. For additional drives or devices, the board provides two SATA 6Gb/s ports. These ports also support the creation of RAID 0 arrays for increased speed or RAID 1 for data mirroring and protection.
Expansion slots and connectivity
The board includes one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for installing a high-performance graphics card. This slot is also reinforced with Steel Armor technology, which protects it from mechanical damage and bending under the weight of heavy cards. For other expansion cards, such as sound or network cards, there is a single PCIe 3.0 x1 slot. On the rear panel, you will find four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and two USB 2.0 ports. For network connectivity, the board is equipped with a port featuring a Realtek RTL8125 2.5Gbps LAN controller. Graphics outputs for processors with integrated GPUs include HDMI 2.1 and an older VGA port.
Advanced features and cooling
The Audio Boost sound system uses a Realtek ALC897 codec and isolated circuitry for a clean 7.1-channel audio output. For system cooling, the board provides connectors for a CPU fan and two system fans, whose speeds are controlled by the Frozr AI Cooling function based on CPU and GPU temperatures. For easy diagnostics during startup, there is a set of integrated EZ Debug LEDs, which indicate problems with the CPU, RAM, VGA, or boot device. Users can also customise the build's appearance with internal connectors for RGB and ARGB LED strips, controlled via the MSI Center software.
